Information

The IEEE Grand Prix Committee is in charge of working on our kart used for the annual Purdue Grand Prix race as well as raising funding for the race season. Held in conjunction with the Grand Prix, this event draws a majority of the school organizations and residence halls. Each race season breaks down into several different components. The Grand Prix race does not occur until late April but the organization for our committee occurs long before that. In the fall semester, new people are recruited to join the team and fund raising starts. Then, during the spring semester, actual work on the kart starts. This includes doing inventory on the condition of the kart, any parts needed and making up the annual budget for our committee. Once this is complete, parts are gathered and the fun begins by going through tech inspection, followed by the start of 11 practices at the track, qualifying and then the culmination of our event, the Grand Prix. Throughout all of this, our committee, bonds with each other and promotes a great team- working environment.
