The SMC focuses on technologies that connect with and assist people. We utilize techniques of Machine Learning, Data Science, and Mechanical Engineering. The club has a 16-electrode EEG with which we collect data after processing this data is used to train a Neural Network that interprets the brain waves to send commands to a computer. The club competes yearly in the NTX competition and is also currently writing a research paper using the EEG.
What we do?
NTX Competition:
Controlling a robotic hand using brain waves.
Create a Robotic Hand Prototype
Collect Data for ML
Create a Neural Network to process the data
Create a video submission for the competition
Research:
Work with the IRB to get the research approved
Conduct experiments according to IRB specifications
Write a peer-reviewed research paper
Become published
128-Electrode EEG:
Write firmware code
Use kiCAD to design PCBs
Signal processing using analog ICs
Hardware Design for the cap
