The SMC focuses on technologies that connect with and assist people. We utilize techniques of Machine Learning, Data Science, and Mechanical Engineering. The club has a 16-electrode EEG with which we collect data after processing this data is used to train a Neural Network that interprets the brain waves to send commands to a computer. The club competes yearly in the NTX competition and is also currently writing a research paper using the EEG.

What we do?

NTX Competition:

  • Controlling a robotic hand using brain waves.

  • Create a Robotic Hand Prototype

  • Collect Data for ML

  • Create a Neural Network to process the data

  • Create a video submission for the competition

Research:

  • Work with the IRB to get the research approved

  • Conduct experiments according to IRB specifications

  • Write a peer-reviewed research paper

  • Become published

128-Electrode EEG:

  • Write firmware code

  • Use kiCAD to design PCBs

  • Signal processing using analog ICs

  • Hardware Design for the cap
